Last Tuesday I was preparing to purchase The first years wave stroller as a gift for my sister who is expecting her first child. The wave stroller costs about 300 dollars and let me tell you, it is worth every single penny. With what you get, you would expect to pay far more. For example, I have seen strollers out there that are being sold for double the price of the wave stroller and will not have even half the quality features. Now here’s my dilemma. The first years company have a few different types of strollers. The jet stroller for example is only 60 dollars but it is also a great product. They have another one called the ignite stroller that is around the same price and looks equally as good. I am torn between paying 300 dollars for the wave or 60 dollars for the jet stroller. On one hand I’m saving money but on the other I’m losing out on some quality features like the swivel seat, the telescopic handle and huge canopy. Sometimes having a range of products to choose from can be a nightmare instead of a blessing.

My Sister Wants to Be an Au Pair
My sister wants to be an au pair, and so I decided to help her out by getting her on a childcare course and giving her some money for it for her birthday. She was really surprised but really pleased about it! She hugged me and even started crying because she was so happy. She is now in the middle of it and she is doing really well, and she has even been guaranteed a job with a nice family when she leaves. She is going off to a different country to help them out! I was amazed and so was she but she is really looking forward to it! I know that she will be fantastic at whatever she does and she will be a wonderful au pair. I just hope that when she gets a spare moment from the kids that she will write me a nice postcard.

Aside from watching cartoons, my young kids also watch nature shows featured in Discovery Channel and Animal Planet. By letting them watch these shows, I would like them to see that the world outside their apartment building is huge. That there are a lot more interesting species on earth other than the neighbor’s pet iguana. Later on, I would like them to consider career options other than game developers or 3D illustrators. I’m hoping that these nature shows might spark in them an interest in nature photography or environmental planning. Not that there’s anything wrong with high technology computer jobs. But then, as parents, we should be concerned with who will take care of the environment in the future if most kids today are in front of the computer all day. We should encourage this generation of kids to take an active interest in protecting their own environment. That is the planet earth that they actually live in and not the virtual world that only exists in their computers.
